Golf in the Dark?!?! Sign me up!
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to play golf in the dark? Look no further! A Special Wish Foundation- Dayton Chapter’s 8th Annual Glow Fore Wishes returns on Friday, August 23, 2019. Glow Fore Wishes is a night time golf tournament that gives teams a unique opportunity to hit the links after the sun sets. Teams deck out their golf carts with balloons, glow in the dark accessories, and other fun decorations. Anne Gniazdowski, a volunteer for ASW explains the spectacular sight, “It is like a mini parade of glow in the dark golf carts.” Using specialized glow in the dark balls, teams tee off at dusk on the front nine of the Hills and the Dales courses at Community Golf Club. To add to the aura, the courses are lit, using only neon lights, glow sticks, and the light of the moon!
Teams are comprised of four players, who are each given an LED golf ball with a designated color. The golf balls light up upon impact and are remarkable to watch as they soar through the night sky. To make matters even better, the night does not end on the 9th hole! Once teams have finished their course, they are invited to join A Special Wish Foundation for a breakfast buffet, inside Community Golf Club.
Not a golfer? Don’t let that stop you from joining this exciting night for all! Glow Fore Wishes is designed for golfers of all abilities, even those just looking for a fun night out with friends. For those wanting a little friendly competition, Glow Fore Wishes hosts a male and female Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin contest. Winners of each contest are awarded with fabulous golfing accessories, donated by The Hale Meyer Andzik Group at Morgan Stanley.
Interested in being a part of the fun? Registration for Glow Fore Wishes can be found at aspecialwishdayton.org.
Can’t make it on August 23? Sponsorships are still available for holes, golf carts, and contests. Volunteer opportunities are also available. For more information, please call Amber Maham 937-641-4263.
A Special Wish Foundation would like to give a special thanks to the event sponsor, Susan Hoying and the course sponsors: Hale Meyer Andzik Group at Morgan Stanley and Frontier Technology Inc. Anne Gniazdowski explains why her family annually volunteers and sponsors a hole at Glow Fore Wishes, “Our family sponsors this event each year in memory of our son Danny, who lost his battle with MPS, a rare genetic disorder, at the age of seven. Special Wish gave our family an incredible Wish Trip to Disney World in 2004. We want other children to have the same experience Danny had. We keep Danny alive in our hearts by giving back to Special Wish and by bringing joy to children like Danny.”
All proceeds from Glow Fore Wishes goes towards granting special wishes for local children battling life-threatening illnesses.
So, join us for the only night of the year where you can play golf in the dark, while helping grant wishes for local children!
